The single that started the Charlatans off - this one was released in 1990 and was like gold dust due to it's limited availability - after the band hit the charts with some success it was re-released to minor success. For me the Charlatans have never bettered their old stuff - yes they may have found critical favour later on during BritPop but this will always be my favourite period of theirs - loads of organ - perfect sounds of the times. This is a top class release - the B-sides are quality also. I saw them playing on their greatest hits tour last year and this along with Sproston Green were the best songs they played that night - hard to believe it is now 17 years since this release.01. Good Man you saved me from dusting off my 12" too.
Have you got Isolation? If not I will have to get that out because it is one of my favourate live albums but I have only played the vinyl 5 times each time to record it. Nuff of my patter.
Yeah - I have a copy of Isolation - great Live album - do you want me to post it and save your Vinyl? I also have a great copy of the Charlatans playing in blackburn from FM radio - cracking gig...
Aye good lad. Isolation is great.
Do you best fella
Charlatans are my favourite band ever after The Stone Roses. I remember hearing "Indian Rope" on the radio as a young wipper snapper & despite the terrible reception it sounded amazing. I've been hooked ever since. I've seen them live several times, met the great men on a few occasions & also own the Blackburn show. Such an underated band
Nice one - I remember seeing them in 1990 in Belfast and they were brilliant - on that Blackburn gig "Polar Bear" is unbelievable!!!
All right if you are going to reminisce I remember seeing them 7 times so far and I have seen Tim Burgess Live as well. I bought tickets to Stereophonics just to see him. The Stereophonics were not that good but Tim was amazing.
Never seen Tim live on his own but did love the solo album. Apparently there's another in the works but he's all tied up with Charlies stuff. As with "Polar Bear" I remember reading an interview where they said they were gutted about how it'd turned out on record as its a million times better live. Have to agree there
