The Spinning Jennys - It's It It It 7" [1991]

A lot of people requested some of the Spinning Jennys after hearing them on one of the earlier Box Set go mixes. Well, here is my entire Spinning Jennys collection to share with you all. This single is one of the great finds in my collection, just listen to the fantastic snare and bass opening of "It's It It It" before the guitar swirls around the speakers like a drunk trying to ground himself before collapse - super piece of indie pop music. "Supermarine" is my personal favourite off the single - an absolute masterclass in the 2 and 1/2 minute indie tune - just a beautiful piece of music that you will be humming for hours. "I'd Laugh If Your Head Exploded" sounds like an American emo band attempting to play British indie music from 1990 - complete with destruction of equipment at the end. The three songs last in total less than eight minutes showing that less is more.

If anyone has any of The Spinning Jenny's stuff that appeared on the compilations of the early 90's let me know - I doubt I will find anything more by this great little band!

Hi,

I have a tape by the Spinning Jennys called Spinning Too i am sure its the same and its a 3 track EP. I have no way of turning it into MP3 format if anyone can i will happily dig it out and send it.

Also 2 members of the Jenny's formed a band called Massey in the late ninties and released and EP and had a song on a joint Feice Panda 7" i might also have that in my Mam's loft if interested.

Thanks for this G

Hi Jim

Would love to hear that Jim - to be honest I knew nothing about them other than that single - never heard of Massey either - by the late 90's I was a father so my musical knowledge dissappeared.

If you send me an e-mail to boxsetgo@gmail.com I will give you my address as I should be able to convert it to MP3 for you if you want - if you just copy the tracks onto a blank tape or I can send you back your ones after converting.

Thanks for the info on this - greatly appreciated
